And didn't we have some fun this Christmas season. So thrilled that Clif and Megan were in New York having the time of their lives and will be in Orlando tomorrow night for the Capital One Bowl (Megan's brother plays for Alabama).
I have some very sad news although I cannot elaborate. I think I'm losing my job. I'm without an island and many people in my working situation all have their own islands yet no one will throw me a life preserver. Maybe one day I can speak of the heart breaking, gut wrenching things that are going on right now. It has truly broken my heart. I used to think I could stay "neutral". I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm low man on the totem pole, but things have happened.
Jim and I are going to spend New Year's Eve here at the house. Boiled shrimp, basil bread foccacio, smoked sausage, marinated crab claws. Definately football. I'll take any teams at this point. Image me watching Oklahoma State vs. Arizona. Have I gone crazy or what? And I actually was rooting for Arizona.
And I took thousands of pictures for Christmas and only two turned out. Can you imagine? I took a photography class this semester. I've lost my balance folks. I'm an unanchored soul so to speak. When did honesty and saneness go out of vogue?
Happy New Year everyone.

The Reason for the Season
Giving. If I could give anything this Christmas season, my biggest wish would be peace. Peace to anyone, peace to everyone. Peace of mind. Peace. It even looks funny as I type the word. Like it's the first time I'm looking at it. Am I selfish to want to give to others the one thing I would love to have as a present this year? Here, have some peace compliments of me. Your welcome.
Clif, is going to be quite the traveler this season. He graduates from LSU in May and next week he flies to Houston for an interview with a construction company. When he gets back, he and Megan fly to New York for five days. It's our Christmas present to them this year. They each earned spending money for the trip this summer. Then when they get back, they spend a short two days with us (Christmas Eve and Day). Then they head back to Baton Rouge and fly to Orlando (compliments of her parents) for the Capital One Bowl. Megan's brother is on the Alabama team. And then Clif comes back up here a few days later to go to the Cotton Bowl. At 56 going on 80, I don't think I could do half of that schedule unless I had a Rascal.
Clif came home this weekend to bring a lot of stuff to put in storage. He's moving from a house to an apartment for the last semester because they lost the lease on the house. The one thing Jim wanted him to help us with was washing the fifth wheel. So we're out there this morning in the pouring rain with the power washer, these two old people with their son supervising. Scrub harder Mom! Put some elbow grease in it Dad! Clif chose the power washer as his tool. Of course, the fact that neither one of his parents know how to operate the power washing has something to do with his choice. But by god, that damn RV is clean. Now we'll be able to see out the windows next time we go camping.
I find myself in the evenings looking for things to laugh at on the computer. Gee why Susan? This is sooo old but I got a good laugh just the same. Jim Gaffigan and Hot Pockets.
